Checkers,
crowned properly.
The board game everyone knows. Played against a computer opponent that thinks before it moves, and never cheats. Jump, crown your kings and clear the board. And not one ad between moves.
This is our plan for Checkers, one of six board and puzzle games we've added to the roadmap. We haven't started it yet, and its place in the build order is still being decided.

A board worth sitting down at
A handsome wooden board. Pieces you can read. And a hint, whenever you want one.
Illustrations of the planned design. The finished app may look different.
How Checkers plays
Two players. Twelve pieces each. Every move on the dark squares.
Move
Pieces move diagonally forward, one square at a time, on the dark squares.
Jump
Jump an opponent's piece to capture it. When you can, chain the jumps together.
Crown
Reach the far row, and your piece becomes a king that moves both ways.
The classic, done with care
An opponent that plays it straight
It sees the same board you do. It thinks within a fixed budget. And it never cheats.
House rules
Forced captures on or off, and the other common variations your family plays.
A free hint every game
Stuck? “Show a move” suggests a good one, and tells you why.
Unlimited undo
Nothing is hidden in this game, so take back any move. As many times as you like.
Your pace, always
No move timers. Put the game down, and pick it up whenever you like.
Works offline
Play anywhere at all. Nothing leaves your device.
Checkers for everyone
A readable board. Every move, spoken. And a pace that's entirely yours.
VoiceOver throughout
Every square and piece is announced, and every move is spoken, so you can play Checkers without looking.
Voice and Switch Control
Standard accessibility actions, including a list of the moves you can make.
Sizes that fit
Larger pieces and a larger board when you want them, and full Dynamic Type everywhere else.
High contrast
Pieces you can tell apart by shape and shade, not just color. Never color alone.
Reduce Motion
With Reduce Motion on, pieces fade into place instead of sliding.
Legal moves shown
If you like, see every square a piece can reach.
Free to play. Pro, if you want more.
Pro is one optional purchase for dedicated players. Nothing to renew. Nothing to remove.

Good to know
When will Checkers be released?
Checkers is on the roadmap after our card games, and we haven't started it. We don't announce dates we can't keep. The day it's ready, this page will have a download link.
Will it cost anything?
The download is free. The whole game is free. Pro will be an optional one-time purchase. And there will never be ads, or a subscription.
Can I play with friends?
Yes, with the people you know. Invite friends over FaceTime or Messages with SharePlay, or through Game Center, and fair computer players take any empty seats. It's always free. No accounts, no servers of ours, and no matchmaking with strangers.
Do I need an internet connection or an account?
No. Everything will work offline, with no account and no sign-in. Your games and stats stay on your device.
Will it come to Android?
That's the plan. We want to bring the whole collection to Android after the iPhone and iPad apps.
Data Not Collected
That's the App Store privacy label on every app we make, Checkers included. No accounts. No analytics. No advertising. Nothing you do in the app leaves your device.
Something to play now.
Checkers comes after the card games, and its place in line is still being decided. There's no mailing list, because we don't collect email addresses. Check back here.
